Als Kriegsinstrument erschaffen vom gefallenen Engel Luzifer für dessen Rache gegen den Himmel, hat Remièl nichts Gutes für die Menschen und den Himmel übrig.
Zu lang ist er schon gefangen im Schattenreich. Als er einen Auftrag bekommt, lässt ihn dies doch hoffen, langfristig seinem Gefängnis entfliehen zu können.
Eine lückenhafte Prophezeiung verspricht die Flucht aus der toten Wüste. Ist er anfangs noch bestrebt, den Auftrag auszuführen, kommt ihm eine Sache dazwischen, mit der er nicht gerechnet hat.
Die junge Frau, dessen Tod ihn und die anderen Dämonen angeblich aus dem Schattenreich befreien soll, bringt sein Herz zum schlagen und weckt Gefühle in ihm, die er zuvor nicht kannte.
Er versucht einen Mittelweg zu finden, wie er seine Liebe beschützen und trotzdem seinem Schöpfer gerecht werden kann. Doch das ist gar nicht so einfach.
